Low Risk Confined Spaces – One-Day Safety Course

Some confined spaces may not look dangerous at first – but that doesn’t mean they’re without risk. If you’re working in small, enclosed areas, even briefly, it’s essential to know how to do it safely.

This one-day course gives you practical knowledge and confidence for low-risk confined space work. It’s delivered at our Wellingborough training centre and is also available for on-site training anywhere in the UK.

Who is this course for?

You don’t have to be a specialist to benefit from this course. If your job sometimes takes you into small or awkward spaces, and there’s a risk of poor ventilation or limited access, this course will help.

  • General maintenance
  • Utilities (water, gas, telecoms)
  • Surveying and inspection roles
  • Construction or facilities management

Even low-risk spaces require the right approach. This course gives you the tools to work smart, stay compliant, and look after yourself and your team.

FAQ – Working in Low Risk Confined Spaces Course Training

Will I be going into a confined space during the course?

No. You’ll stay above ground. It’s a low-risk course, so you’ll learn how to work safely without needing to crawl into tight spaces.

What exactly is a low-risk confined space?

Think of somewhere with limited access, maybe not much airflow, but no immediate dangers like gas or flooding. You’d still need to follow safe procedures – it’s just not high-risk.

Do I need experience before booking?

Not at all. A lot of people take this as their first step into confined space training. You don’t need any previous tickets or formal background.

Who usually takes this course?

Mostly people in maintenance, construction, or utilities. If your job ever puts you near small service chambers or plant rooms, this course makes sense.

How long does the cert last?

Three years. After that, we’d recommend a quick refresher just to keep things current.

Is the training recognised?

Yes. The certificate is accepted across the UK. It’s one of the standard ones you’d expect for basic confined space awareness.

Can I get this delivered at our site?

Definitely. We run this course at workplaces all over the country. If you’ve got a few people needing it, we’ll come to you.

Where are you based?

Our main centre’s in Wellingborough – East Midlands. People come in from places like Northampton, Kettering, Milton Keynes and even further.

What kind of kit do you use in the training?

We keep it simple: gas detectors, comms, PPE, maybe a harness. Enough to get you used to what’s used out on jobs.

Does it follow HSE rules?

Yeah, the course lines up with UK regs and HSE advice. Nothing fancy – just what’s needed to keep people safe and above board.
