Enquire nowThinking of getting certified to operate a telehandler? Our CPCS A17 Telehandler Training Course gives you the skills, time on the machine, and the qualification needed to work safely and professionally across UK sites.
It’s straight-talking, hands-on training – designed for anyone looking to use telescopic handlers in construction, logistics, agriculture, or site support.
We work with all kinds of learners:
Whether you’ve used a telehandler before or never sat in one, we’ll guide you through it step by step.
The A17 course focuses on telehandlers, also known as telescopic forklifts. These machines are used for moving loads into places that normal forklifts can’t reach.
You’ll learn how to:
We run practical sessions that mirror what really happens on site, not just textbook examples.
It depends on your experience:
After training, you’ll take the CPCS theory and practical test. Once passed, you’ll receive the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for the A17 category – valid for 2 years.
We’ve trained plant operators for over 30 years. Our instructors have spent time on real sites – not just in classrooms. They’ll show you what actually works, not just what’s in the manual.
No pressure, no fluff – just proper training.
Our main training centre is based in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. We run most of our courses here using full-size machines and a proper training ground.
But we don’t just train locals. We work with learners and companies across the UK – including from Birmingham, London, Nottingham, and further afield. If you’re coming in from outside the area, we’ll help you get sorted.
While we’re proud to be one of the leading providers of CPCS telehandler training in Wellingborough, we also welcome trainees from all over the UK. Whether you’re travelling in from the Midlands or the South East, we’ll make sure the training fits your needs. Our location is easy to reach, and our team will support you with logistics if needed.
Want to operate a telehandler legally and confidently? This course gives you everything you need to pass your CPCS test and get working – no shortcuts, no gimmicks.
Call us or send a message to book your spot or ask any questions. We’re always happy to help.
Not necessarily. Loads of people take this course as their first proper training with plant machinery. And if you’ve already driven a telehandler but never had the ticket, we can tailor the course so it doesn’t feel like you’re starting from scratch.
It really depends on your background. For someone totally new, you’re looking at around five days, start to finish. If you’ve been operating a telehandler before, it might only take two or three days. We’ll chat with you first and figure it out properly.
Yeah, quite a bit. A telehandler’s got that extending boom – it can lift way higher and reach over stuff that a regular forklift couldn’t manage. That’s why they’re everywhere on building sites, farms, and warehouses.
Mostly at our centre in Wellingborough, Northamptonshire. It’s fully set up with proper kit – not scaled-down machines. That said, we’ve had plenty of people travel in from all over the UK. If you’re not local, don’t worry – we’ll help you get sorted.
A proper telehandler, full-size, just like the ones used on site. We also go over how different attachments work, so you’re not just learning the basics but stuff you’ll actually use on the job.
If you pass the theory and the practical test, you’ll get the CPCS Red Trained Operator Card for the A17 category. It’s good for two years and gets you through the gate on most sites in the UK.
Definitely. We’ll go through the typical questions, explain how the practical works, and help you feel confident without making it all about memorising answers. You’ll understand what you’re doing – and why it matters.
Yes – we’re fully CITB-accredited, and the CPCS card you get is accepted on most UK construction and logistics sites.
Absolutely. Just give us a ring or drop us a message. We’ll ask a few simple questions and point you in the right direction – no pressure or sales pitch.
