Automated External Defibrillators (AED)

AED Training

The automated external defibrillator (AED) is one of the most vital tools in first aid, used to restart the heartbeat of those who have suffered cardiac arrest. And with more and more AEDs appearing on the streets of the UK, it’s vital to understand how to use AEDs to save lives.

Our AED training course takes you through everything you need to know about AEDs, from recognising the signs of cardiac arrest to using an AED safely and correctly. Once you’re finished, you’ll be confident in AED use and able to perform a vital role should someone around you collapse from cardiac arrest.

What You’ll Learn in AED Training

Over the course of 2.5 hours, you’ll learn a huge amount not only about using an AED, but also when to use one. Some of the topics we’ll cover include:

  • Recognising when someone is in cardiac arrest
  • Understanding whether to use an AED or not
  • Performing CPR on an adult
  • Using an AED properly and with confidence
  • Administering effective first aid until a professional arrives
  • Staying calm and following basic emergency protocol

You’ll also see practical demonstrations at various stages, plus you’ll get to use an AED on a manikin, to aid with your learning and confidence.
