Who Needs a First Aid Refresher Course?
Our refresher first aid course is for anyone with valid first aid certification looking to consolidate their skills and stay prepared for an emergency. However, we’re regularly used by students who:

- Need additional confidence to apply what they’ve already learned
But remember, this is not a complete first aid course – for that, we’d recommend one of our other courses. Instead, this is a refresher, topping up what you already know and ensuring you’re always ready to tackle an emergency, whenever and wherever it arises.
What Do You Learn in a First Aid Refresher Course?
We’ll cover an extensive range of topics in your first aid training refresher course. Important subjects include:
- Revisiting life-saving skills like CPR and AED defibrillator use.
- Dealing with cuts, burns, and fractures effectively.
- Learning about any important updates to UK health and safety law.
- Treating seizures, diabetic attacks, and allergic reactions.
- Spotting and treating signs of shock.
- Treating those who have fainted.
- Administering first aid to someone who is unconscious or not breathing.
Once completed, you’ll have received a full recap of essential first aid skills. And you won’t just have been told what to do – you’ll have taken part in realistic scenarios, allowing you to put your training into practice.
What Happens During the Course?
Your first aid refresher course will be held over a day, usually at our Northamptonshire training centre. However, we sometimes offer training elsewhere, and we can arrange training for groups at a workplace. Blended courses, mixing in-person and online learning, are also available.
Throughout the day, you’ll receive both theoretical and practical coaching on first aid, ensuring a balanced learning journey that delivers the knowledge you need. Generally, our courses run from 9 am to 4 pm, with a lunch break halfway through.
At the end of the day, you’ll receive a certificate, proving you’ve still got the knowledge and skills needed to deal with medical emergencies in the workplace, at home, and in public. This certificate is valid for 12 months – when it expires, just come back for more refresher first aid training!

No, it isn’t – this is a course for those who still have a valid first aid certificate. If your certificate has expired, we would recommend taking a complete first aid course instead.

Yes, our first aid refresher course follows all current guidelines from the Health & Safety Executive and Resuscitation Council UK. It is widely recognised throughout the UK.
Can the first aid refresher course be taken online?
Some parts of the course can be taken online, but this will need to be combined with in-person training so that you can complete the practical elements of the course.
