Annual Skills Course

Annual Skills Course

Most people don’t practise first aid after they finish their course. Skills fade, details get fuzzy – especially if you haven’t had to use them. That’s where the First Aid Annual Skills Course comes in.

This one-day refresher is a chance to revisit what you learned, stay sharp, and make sure your certificate stays current. It’s practical, straightforward, and aligned with UK regulations.

Who’s it First Aid Annual Skills Course for?

This course is meant for anyone who already holds a valid first aid qualification. You might:

  • Be the designated first aider at work
  • Have a certificate that’s close to expiry
  • Want a bit of a confidence boost to keep your knowledge fresh
  • Need to meet HSE annual update recommendations

You don’t need to start from scratch – this is a way to top up your training and stay ready.

Why bother with a refresher?

Most people won’t deal with an emergency every week. But when one does happen, you’ll want those first aid steps to come back without hesitation.

What you’ll get with this refresher:

  • A recap of key life-saving steps like CPR and AED use
  • Time to practise wound care, bandaging, and emergency response
  • Clear updates on UK first aid protocols, including heart attacks and strokes
  • A practical session, led by instructors who teach – not just talk
  • The option to do it face-to-face or partly online

It’s not a lecture – you’ll be moving, trying things out, and building confidence.

What you’ll cover

This is a refresher, not a repeat. So we focus on what matters:

  • Spotting danger and responding quickly
  • Performing CPR the right way, based on the most recent guidelines
  • Using a defibrillator (AED) in different situations
  • Treating burns, bleeding, broken bones and more
  • What to do if someone has a seizure, allergic reaction or diabetic issue
  • Managing shock and fainting
  • Supporting someone who’s not breathing or is unconscious

We also leave space for real questions and real-life examples – no “one-size-fits-all” approach here.

  • Duration: One full day (usually 9am to 4pm)
  • Includes a course guidebook and practical activities
