What You’ll Learn

This course covers all the essential basics of first aid, from dealing with medical emergencies to coping with more everyday injuries. Some of the topics you’ll study include:

  • Carrying out CPR on adults
  • Using an AED for resuscitation
  • Helping someone who is unconscious
  • Responding to someone who is choking
  • Treating severe cuts, burns, head injuries, and fractures
  • Helping someone with heatstroke or a cold-induced emergency
  • Helping those having a heart attack, stroke, or asthma attack
  • Calling for help correctly

It sounds like a lot to cover, but we keep things interesting with practical demonstrations and hands-on exercises. Plus, you’ll be in a small group, so there will be plenty of chances to ask questions.

How Does the Course Work?

This course spans two to three evenings, totalling 12 hours of learning time. The sessions are taught by experienced professionals with varied backgrounds, including the NHS.

You can take the evening first aid course at several London venues, and it is also available for online study. You’ll be assessed by the trainer throughout your course as you practice CPR, apply bandages, and more. There is no examination at the end.

Upon completion of the course, you’ll receive a first aid certificate, showing your proficiency in first aid. This certificate is nationally recognised and is valid for three years. Please note that this course is not focused on workplace first aid – it is instead more for use in situations outside work. There is no minimum requirement to take this evening first aid course, and no prior first aid experience is necessary. However, it is a course for everyday life – it’s not suitable if you’re looking to learn first aid for a workplace setting.

Will I get a certificate?

Yes, you’ll receive a certificate in basic first aid and adult CPR upon completing the course. It will be valid for three years and prove that you’ve been trained in the fundamentals of first aid.

Can I take this course online?

Yes, we regularly run online evening first aid classes, where you’ll connect with a trainer via a live stream.

How long is this course?

This evening first aid course takes 12 hours to complete. This can be completed over two or three evenings, depending on the course you register for.
