The IPAF Demonstrator Training 3A Scissor Lift (3A – Mobile Vertical) teaches experienced operators how to safely show others how to use a scissor lift. It’s not just about knowing the controls – it’s about explaining things clearly, spotting risks, and making sure everyone stays safe.

- You’re often asked to show new users how the platform works

What you’ll learn
This is a one-day course, mixing classroom work with practical sessions. We’ll cover:
- Health and safety basics around MEWPs
- How to plan and give a proper demonstration
- How to carry out machine checks and talk others through them
- Spotting risks before and during use
- Showing others how to operate scissor lifts safely
- Communicating clearly and confidently
You’ll get to run a real demo, and we’ll give you helpful feedback on how to improve.
What you need to attend
- A valid IPAF 3A PAL Card (scissor lift operator licence)
- A decent level of English (it’s what we use to run the training)
- Basic fitness to get on and off the machine safely
Certification
Once you pass, you’ll get an IPAF Demonstrator Certificate – 3A, valid for 5 years. It’ll also show up on your IPAF digital card via the ePAL app.
This proves you’re not just trained to use a scissor lift – you’re trained to demonstrate safe use to others.
FAQs
Can I take this course without a PAL Card?
No. You’ll need to already have a valid 3A PAL Card. This course builds on your existing skills.
Will I be able to teach others after this?
You’ll be able to demonstrate safe MEWP use, not deliver full IPAF training. To become an IPAF instructor, you’d need further qualifications.
Is there a test on IPAF Demonstrator Training 3A Scissor Lift Course?
Yes. You’ll do a short theory test and run a practical demonstration. Don’t worry – we’ll prepare you properly.
What if I fail?
We’ll talk through what went wrong and how to fix it. You can rebook the assessment if needed.
Do I get a physical card?
You’ll get a certificate and your new endorsement will show up on your digital IPAF ePAL Card. If you want a physical card, you can request one.
