Yes, you do. You’ll need to already have an IPAF 1B operator licence. This course isn’t for first-timers – it’s for people who already know the kit.
It’s mostly for folks who need to show others how to use a static boom safely. Could be a site supervisor, someone doing inductions, or just the person everyone asks how to use the cherry picker.
Definitely. Operator training is about you using the machine. This one’s about showing someone else how to do it right – safely, clearly, and by the book.
It’s a one-day thing. Usually wraps up in the afternoon. You’ll get a mix of theory, talking through real situations, and some hands-on work too.
There is, but don’t panic. A short theory bit and a practical part. Nothing fancy – it’s more about making sure you know how to pass that knowledge on properly.
If you pass, you’ll get an IPAF Demonstrator certificate for Static Boom (1B). Valid for five years. It’s what most sites and firms want if you’re doing this kind of work.
We run it at training centres all over – London, Birmingham, Manchester, up north, down south. Just ask what’s near you.
No worries – it happens. We’ll go over what went wrong, help you fix it, and sort a retake if needed. Most people pass first go.
