FAQ – NRSWA / Street Works Training
I’m completely new to street works – can I still enrol?
Absolutely. We regularly train complete beginners as well as experienced operatives and supervisors. We’ll help you choose the right pathway (Operative or Supervisor) and the specific units you actually need for your role.
Do I get an official qualification and an SWQR card?
Yes. When you pass the assessed units, your achievements are registered on the Street Works Qualifications Register (SWQR) and you receive an SWQR ID card. In England, certificates on your card normally last 5 years from the date they’re issued by the awarding body; you then re-assess to keep them current.
How long does the training take?
A full Operative or Supervisor programme typically runs over 5 days and includes several assessed units. Single-unit courses (e.g., LA, O1 or S1) are usually delivered in 1 day.
Do I need a driving licence for the course?
No. Street works training focuses on safe working practices, signing, guarding and compliance – not on driving.
Where can I do Street Works courses near me in the UK?
You’re welcome at our Training Centre: Airfield Road, Wellingborough, NN29 7XA, UK. If that’s not convenient, tell us which units you need – we’ll check upcoming dates closer to you or discuss on-site training for groups, where suitable.
