PASMA training Northampton

PASMA training courses in Northampton

Working at heights is not easy or safe. Many people, especially those who are afraid of heights, experience considerable stress when they have to climb high scaffolding. This comes as no surprise to us. To help all employees cope with this stress and enable them to work calmly and efficiently, we have been organising certified PASMA training courses for many years. Northampton is a large city and there is a need for many skilled workers who can work at height. That is why we meet these needs by offering a wide variety of PASMA courses.

Why is it worth doing PASMA training with us?

CPTS LTD has been operating in the Northamptonshire region since its inception. We have our training centres here, including one in Northampton. We organise PASMA courses in cooperation with highly experienced trainers. Our trainers have both extensive theoretical knowledge and years of practical experience. This combination enables them to provide course participants with the most valuable and useful information. In this way, our training courses perfectly meet the needs of our customers. The trainer always takes an individual approach to each training course and also ensures that it takes place in a very good atmosphere. Thanks to this, we have gained hundreds, if not thousands, of satisfied customers.

What is PASMA and why do companies in the UK require it?

PASMA, or the Prefabricated Access Suppliers and Manufacturers Association, is the British authority on the safe use of mobile access towers (mobile towers, mobile aluminium scaffolding, access systems). PASMA focuses on practice rather than ‘pretty slides’.

Importantly, PASMA operates in accordance with the British approach to safety at height, including:

  • Work at Height Regulations (WAHR)
  • Health and Safety at Work etc. Act
  • good industry practices on construction sites, in FM, in industry and maintenance

In practice, this means one thing: if you work on mobile towers in the UK, PASMA is one of the most recognised training paths that employers take seriously.

Who is PASMA training Northampton for?

This training is not ‘just for scaffolders’. In fact, people from many industries work on towers, and each of them has their own typical mistakes.

PASMA courses in the Northampton area are most often chosen by:

  1. fitters and installers (HVAC, M&E, ventilation, air conditioning)
  2. electricians, service technicians, maintenance technicians
  3. fit-out and renovation teams
  4. construction and finishing
  5. warehouses and logistics (e.g. work on racks)
  6. facility management, industrial cleaning, maintenance
  7. foremen, team leaders and people who ‘supervise from the ground’ but are responsible for safety

If you’ve ever had doubts about whether ‘that tower is really stable,’ then this is the training for you.

What does the PASMA certificate give you and how long is it valid for?

After completing the training, you will receive an official PASMA certificate, which is usually valid for up to 5 years.

And now the most important thing: it is not just a ‘nice document for your file’. It is confirmation that:

  • you know the rules for assembling and dismantling mobile towers
  • you can perform a pre-use check
  • you understand stabilisation, loads and the risk of overturning
  • you can work in accordance with UK procedures and requirements

For many companies, a PASMA card/certificate is a prerequisite for employment, especially in commercial and industrial projects.

PASMA training courses Northampton – what exactly do you cover in the course?

1) Practical assembly and dismantling of mobile towers

Not ‘dry’, not ‘in pictures’. You assemble the tower as it is done on a construction site.

You will learn, among other things:

how to select components for the working height

how to use handrails, braces and stabilisers

how to avoid mistakes that cause the structure to wobble

2) Safe use and movement of the tower

Many accidents happen not during assembly, but ‘during work’.

During the course, you will discuss:

when it is possible to move the tower and when it is absolutely not possible

what to do with tools and materials on the platform

how to control risks when working in passageways, on uneven terrain and around obstacles

3) Inspection, technical condition assessment and responsibility

This is a part that is often missing from real-life teams.

You will learn:

how to recognise damage to components

what excludes a tower from use

who is responsible for control and documentation

4) Risk, procedures and ‘common sense’ on the construction site

PASMA teaches an approach that works in practice:

how to think about risk before you step onto the platform

how to secure the work area

how to plan your work so you don’t have to improvise at height

And this is the moment when people often say, ‘Gosh, I wish I’d had this before.’

What PASMA courses are available for Northampton?

A well-chosen course makes all the difference. It will be different for someone assembling a tower for the first time and different for someone who is going to lead a team.

The most popular PASMA training courses are:

Mobile Access Towers for Users

For people who assemble, use and dismantle mobile towers.

Low Level Access

For working on platforms, small platforms and low access equipment.

Towers on Stairs

When working on staircases and in confined spaces.

Towers with Cantilever / Bridges / Linked Towers (Advanced)

For more complex configurations where planning and stability are important.

PASMA Towers for Managers

For managers and supervisors: planning work at height, equipment selection, legal responsibilities.

If you are unsure which PASMA training Northampton option is best for you, just ask. It is better to choose the right course than to overpay or choose a level that is too low.

What does the PASMA exam and certification look like?

This is one of those things that reassures people right from the start.

At the end of the training, you usually do:

  • a short theoretical part (questions, procedures, risks)
  • a practical assessment (assembly, inspection, correct use)

And don’t worry: we’re not out to catch you out. We want you to be able to work safely after the course.

Can PASMA be done online?

We need to be honest here, because many people have the wrong expectations.

Yes, some of the theory is available as an e-learning module, but:

full completion of PASMA training courses requires passing a practical test and a live assessment.

And that makes sense. You can’t learn how to assemble a tower just from a video. It’s a bit like learning to drive from YouTube. You can, but… only until the first turn.
