Its extendable boom can be outfitted with forks, buckets, or even winches to tackle a wide range of lifting and moving tasks on construction and industrial sites. By far the most common attachment is a set of pallet forks, ideal for transporting materials efficiently.

Telehandler Course Details
La Servicii de formare în construcții și instalații, we deliver both CPCS (Construction Plant Competence Scheme) and NPORS (National Plant Operators Registration Scheme) telehandler programs. Depending on your prior experience, our courses usually run 1–4 days:
- CPCS Telehandler Training: Leads to the Red Card (often referred to as a “telehandler licence”) in three main categories:
– Category A: Industrial Telescopic Handler
– Category B: Up to 9 metres
– Category C: Above 9 metres (excluding 360-degree slew) - 360 Telehandler Course: A specialized option where you can earn a dedicated CPCS 360 telehandler ticket, expanding your credentials for more advanced jobs.
What You will learn at the telehandler training course?
Throughout training, our expert instructors cover a comprehensive set of topics, such as:
Current UK regulations, legislation, and guidelines
Roles, responsibilities, and day-to-day best practices for telehandler operators
Key parts of the machine and how to handle controls safely
Load assessment: size, weight, and ground conditions
Standard operating procedures for lifting, carrying, and placing loads
Proper maintenance, inspections, and servicing
Identifying and mitigating common site hazards (underground cables, overhead power lines, etc.)
Promoting a culture of health and safety on every job
Assessment and Certification
After the course, you’ll complete both a theory test and a hands-on practical exam. Successful participants receive the CPCS Trained Operator (Red) Card, which remains valid for two years. Think of it as your entry-level certification, granting you the foundational skills to operate telehandlers confidently.
If you want to move on to full accreditation, the next step is the CPCS Competent Operator (Blue) Card. To get there, you’ll need:
300 hours of documented job experience in your CPCS logbook
Completion of NVQ Level 2 assessment within two years of earning your Red Card
That Blue Card can be renewed every five years, underscoring your long-term qualifications as a telehandler operator.
