Building energetics

Building energetics

Building energetics is a term covering all aspects related to energy consumption, its distribution and efficiency in the context of a specific building. Building energetics may include heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems (HVAC), thermal insulation, sunshades, electrical installations and the use of renewable energy such as solar panels or wind turbines. Energy efficiency of the buildings is measured on the basis of its ability to minimise energy consumption while ensuring thermal comfort and adequate conditions for its occupants. Modern building energetics also focuses on sustainability, aiming at minimising the negative impact of buildings by using environmentally friendly technologies and optimising energy consumption.
