hard hats

Tips and Tricks for proper hard hats while on site.

Your head and brain is the most important part of your head. With 100,000 miles of blood vessels and 100 billion neurons, it enables us to breathe, think, dream, retain memories, and make 35,000 decisions every day. As such, any injuries towards your head may cause serious problems to your brain. Which may lead to brain damage, paralysis or even death.

If a worker knows that they are well protected they can have complete confidence in carrying out their duties without the fear of potential injury. The result of greater confidence and happiness is a willingness to work more efficiently. The best choice of the helmet will also be the most comfortable. To achieve these benefits, hard hats need to be appropriate to the workers’ tasks and working environment. They also should fit comfortably and provide the highest levels of safety.

Choosing the right one for you

With so many helmet designs on the market, it can be overwhelming and confusing on which hard hat to get. Some of the key questions you should ask when hard hat shopping include:

  • Does it comply with standards, rules and regulations?

Sometimes if your hard hat does not follow regulations, not only aren’t you allowed on certain sites. You can be also permanently banned from sites, or even punished if you wear it and are caught with it.

  • Is it comfortable

A comfortable helmet is more likely to be worn than one that doesn’t fit properly. Look for features like a fast-dry sweatband, intuitive and full adjustability, ventilation systems and a lightweight design.

  • Can you choose application-specific features?

Yes, you can. For example, if you work at heights or in confined spaces, choose a helmet with a chinstrap that is compact. While working in electrical environments or around chemicals, take non-vented helmets, made of anti-static materials with integrated face mask.
