The IPAF Harness Course aims to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary for using harnesses safely and efficiently while operating Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs). Below is an overview of the course:
Who should attend: The IPAF Harness Course is suitable for anyone who uses harnesses when operating MEWPs or working at height, including operators, supervisors, and managers.
To participate in the course, candidates must maintain physical fitness and have the ability to work at height. They must also understand the language used during the course well, as instructors conduct the training in English.
The course includes both theoretical and practical components. The theoretical component covers the relevant health and safety regulations, hazards and risks associated with the use of harnesses, types of harnesses, and inspection and maintenance procedures. The practical component involves hands-on training on how to fit and wear harnesses correctly and how to carry out emergency procedures in the event of a fall.
The IPAF Harness Course has an eLearning option, allowing participants to complete the training at their own pace. The program covers the same material as the classroom-based course, including health and safety regulations and practical training through interactive simulations. After finishing the eLearning program, participants must pass a practical assessment to receive their IPAF Harness Training certificate, valid for five years. The eLearning option offers a convenient and cost-effective way to receive harness safety training.
