No, you do not need prior experience. The training is designed for complete beginners as well as those wanting to refresh their skills. We start with the essentials – safety, machine components, controls – and build up to the practical work so you’ll feel confident by the end.
You’ll need your own PPE (steel-toe boots, high-visibility clothing, hard hat, etc.). In the practical segment, you’ll learn how to carry out pre-start and running checks, manoeuvre the shovel over rough terrain, load and unload, work on slopes, shut down correctly, and more. We make sure each delegate has ample hands-on time under supervision.
Yes – on successful completion of both theory and practical assessments, you’ll receive a CPCS Red Trained Operator Card. This card is valid for two years. If you also complete the relevant NVQ during or after this course, you may be eligible to upgrade to a 5-year CPCS Blue Competent Operator card.
You can attend our training centre at Airfield Road, Wellingborough, NN29 7XA, UK. If that’s a bit far, get in touch with us – we may have upcoming courses nearer to you, or we can look at arranging on-site training at your location if conditions permit.
The A21 course runs for three days and combines theory with practical training. The fee covers tuition, all required training materials, and certification upon passing. Our tutors are highly experienced and will guide you through UK-industry safety standards throughout. If you need finance or company funding, we also help arrange that.
