NPORS N013 Pivot Steer Truck Training

NPORS N013 Pivot Steer Truck (Bendi/Flexi) Course

Tight aisles. Sharp turns. Busy walkways. A pivot steer truck handles them all – if you know how. Our NPORS N013 Pivot Steer Truck Course teaches safe, efficient driving in real warehouse conditions, so you protect people, product and racking.

What this course covers

We focus on practical skills you’ll use every shift. Less theory, more hands-on control.

Key skills you’ll build:

  • Pre-use checks: forks, chains, mast, articulation joint, hydraulics, tyres, alarms and lights
  • Stability & capacity: load centres, rated capacity plates, the stability triangle and tilt control
  • Manoeuvring: very narrow aisles, wrap-around turns, end-of-aisle exits, confined spaces
  • Stacking & de-stacking: racking approach, fork positioning, pallet types, level and height control
  • Travel with/without load: gradients, reversing, cornering speed and clear visibility
  • Pedestrian safety: exclusion zones, horn discipline, intersections and blind spots
  • Battery care: safe charging, changeover, charging bay rules and housekeeping
  • End-of-shift: parking, isolation, defect reporting and handover

By the end, you’ll drive an articulated (pivot steer) truck with confidence – safely, smoothly and on plan.

Who it’s for

Warehouse operators, pick/pack teams, FLT drivers moving into articulated trucks, and supervisors who oversee narrow-aisle operations. New to Bendi/Flexi or returning for a refresher – we’ll tailor the session to your level.

How training works

Short, clear classroom briefs. Then drills on real layouts that mirror your aisles and racking. Small groups mean more seat time and immediate feedback from instructors who’ve worked in live warehouses.

Certification & validity

On completion you’ll receive an NPORS N013 Pivot Steer Truck Operator Card, recognised across the UK. The card is valid for three years.

NPORS N013 Pivot Steer Truck – FAQs

What is the NPORS N013 Pivot Steer Truck course?

Hands-on training for articulated (pivot steer) lift trucks – often called Bendi or Flexi. You learn safe driving in tight aisles, correct stacking and daily checks.

Is this the same as Bendi or Flexi training?

Yes. Bendi and Flexi are brand names for the pivot steer truck type. The course covers them all.

Who should take it?

Warehouse operators, FLT drivers moving into articulated trucks, pick/pack teams and supervisors responsible for narrow-aisle work.

Do I need a forklift licence first?

No. We can start from scratch. If you already drive other FLTs, we’ll tailor it to your experience.

What will I learn in practice?

Pre-use inspections, stability and load centres, manoeuvring in very narrow aisles, safe racking work, travelling with/without a load, pedestrian safety and neat end-of-shift shutdown.

Do you cover batteries and charging?

Yes. We cover safe charging, battery changeover, charging bay rules and housekeeping.

How long is the NPORS card valid?

The NPORS N013 Pivot Steer Truck Operator Card is valid for three years.

Where do you run the course?

Can you train whole teams on our site?

Absolutely. On-site pivot steer training lets your team practise in your aisles, with your racking and procedures.

What are the entry requirements?

Photo ID and a good level of English. Wear suitable PPE if we’re training on your site.

Is there an assessment?

Yes – a practical drive and a short knowledge check to confirm safe operation and racking work.

How many people per group?

Small groups only, so everyone gets seat time and individual feedback.

What about other truck types – counterbalance or reach?

We can add conversion or separate courses. Tell us what trucks you use and we’ll advise the best route.

Do you offer evenings or weekends?

Yes. We schedule around shift patterns, including nights and weekends where needed.

Can my employer claim a grant?

If you’re CITB-registered, funding may apply. We’ll guide you through the process.
