NPORS N109 MEWP Scissor Lift Course

Work safely at height with our NPORS N109 MEWP Scissor Lift Course. Scissor lifts are used daily on UK construction sites, warehouses, factories and maintenance projects to give workers safe, stable access to elevated work areas. To operate them legally and confidently, you need formal training – and this course gives you the skills, knowledge and NPORS certification to do it.

At Construction & Plant Training Services, we combine clear theory with plenty of hands-on practice. By the end of this course, you’ll know how to operate a scissor lift safely, efficiently and in line with the latest regulations. On completion, you’ll earn your NPORS Operator Card, accepted by employers across the UK.

We run courses at our Wellingborough training centre or on-site anywhere in the UK, and we offer a lowest price guarantee – if you find a cheaper like-for-like quote, we will match it.

Who this course is for

This course suits anyone who uses – or plans to use – a mobile elevated work platform (MEWP) scissor lift.

It’s ideal for:

  • Beginners starting a career in construction, warehousing or maintenance
  • Site operatives, electricians or painters adding MEWP duties to their role
  • Experienced operators who need an experienced worker assessment
  • Workers upgrading from a red trained operator card to a blue competent operator card

No previous experience is required – we match the training to your level.

What you will learn

Our NPORS scissor lift training gives you the safety knowledge and operating skills needed to work productively at height.

You’ll begin with the essentials: site safety rules, hazard awareness and legal responsibilities under LOLER, PUWER and the Work at Height Regulations. You’ll learn how to read the manufacturer’s handbook, carry out daily pre-use inspections, and identify faults before they become a risk.

Then we move into real operation. You’ll practise safe mounting and dismounting, manoeuvring and positioning the scissor lift, setting up safely on different surfaces, and using fall protection correctly. We’ll cover spotting overhead hazards, maintaining a safe working area, and coordinating with banksmen or ground staff while elevated.

Finally, you’ll learn shutdown, parking and isolation procedures, and how to prepare and secure the scissor lift for transport.
